The practice
Notice any place at all where your mind finds real satisfaction — a task, a view, a person, a piece of work, a smell. Wherever that is, put your attention there deliberately and let the satisfaction open into something larger than its occasion.
What it works on
The generalisation of the entire group. Having given examples ranging from food to music to reunion, the text stops listing and says: anywhere the mind is content will do. Nothing is excluded and nothing is required.
Notes
- This is the one to remember if you remember only one from this family.
Practise gently
Shoonyaka offers educational and contemplative material, not medical, psychological or religious authority. Nothing here diagnoses or treats any condition. Stop any practice that leaves you dizzy, frightened or unwell, and treat a strong reaction as a reason to rest rather than to push on.
