The practice
Establish the emptiness above the head and beneath the seat as in the previous practice. When both are steady, open a third at the heart. Hold all three at once, firmly, without letting one lapse while you attend to another.
What it works on
The third point closes the circuit. With emptiness at both ends and at the centre there is nowhere left for a sense of solid location to sit, and the text says what follows is a thoughtlessness that does not need maintaining.
Notes
- Only attempt this once two points are comfortable. Three is genuinely harder than two.
Practise gently
Shoonyaka offers educational and contemplative material, not medical, psychological or religious authority. Nothing here diagnoses or treats any condition. Stop any practice that leaves you dizzy, frightened or unwell, and treat a strong reaction as a reason to rest rather than to push on.
