What this mantra is
A plain reading: reverence to Shiva, the auspicious. It is repeated as a way of letting effort and self-management soften.
How to practise
- Sit comfortably and let the breath find its own rhythm first.
- Repeat the five syllables softly, one repetition per breath or two per breath.
- Use a mala or the on-screen counter so attention is not spent on counting.
- End by sitting for a minute in silence.
Notes
- Short mantras suit longer sittings and walking practice.
- Mental repetition is equally valid when you need to be quiet.
- Keep the pace unhurried; speed is not devotion.
- Release the count immediately if it starts to feel like pressure.
Practise gently
Shoonyaka offers educational wellbeing guidance, not medical advice or treatment. Practise seated or lying safely, never while driving, in water, or operating equipment. Stop immediately and return to natural breathing if you feel dizzy, faint, breathless, numb, panicked, painful, or unwell. If you are pregnant, under 18, have a heart, blood-pressure, neurological or respiratory condition, or are recovering from illness or surgery, seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional before breath retention or unfamiliar breathwork.
